Melaye to Sue Over Adedeji's Role in Tinubu's Campaign

Dino Melaye, a former Senator representing Kogi West and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced his intention to file a lawsuit against Zacch Adedeji's appointment as Deputy Director of Fundraising for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Melaye argues that Adedeji's position as Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service creates a conflict of interest, as he oversees national revenue collection while participating in a political fundraising effort.

Melaye stated he would approach the court on Monday to challenge this appointment, emphasizing that public servants are bound by Public Service Rules and ethics. He criticized President Tinubu's decision to chair the APC Presidential Campaign Council, calling it unprecedented and disgraceful, suggesting it reflects a lack of confidence in party members.

The APC had announced its campaign council members, with Tinubu as chairman, Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman I, and others in key roles, including Adedeji as Deputy Director of Fundraising.
