Melaye Critiques Tinubu's Campaign Role for 2027 Election

Senator Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu's decision to serve as both the presidential candidate and chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. In a video posted on his official X account, Melaye described this arrangement as unprecedented and "disgraceful," suggesting it reflects insecurity within the ruling party.

He also criticized the campaign council's size and structure, labeling it "very, very, very bogus" and alleging duplications in committees and positions. Furthermore, Melaye raised concerns over the appointment of Zacch Adedeji, chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service, to a fundraising role within Tinubu's campaign, arguing it presents a conflict of interest due to Adedeji's public official status.

Melaye announced plans to challenge this matter in court, asserting that public officials must adhere to the Public Service Rules. He vowed to continue opposing Tinubu's re-election, declaring the effort a "battle of no retreat, no surrender.".
