Adelabu's Supporters Demand Direct Primary in Oyo APC

On Thursday, supporters of Adebayo Adelabu protested at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Oyo State, calling for a direct primary to select the party's governorship candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. This protest occurred after Adelabu resigned from his ministerial role last month to pursue his ambitions for the Oyo State governorship election.

He formally declared his intent to contest the gubernatorial poll on May 12, 2026. The protest was organized as party stakeholders, including Sharafadeen Alli, were set to adopt a consensus candidate ahead of the forthcoming primary elections.

A meeting was held at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall at the University College Hospital in Ibadan to discuss the party's strategy moving forward. Adelabu's supporters are advocating for a direct primary to ensure a fair selection process for the governorship candidacy.
