Adebayo Advocates for Nigeria's Founding Philosophy Return

On Tuesday, Prince Adewol Adebayo, the former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), called for Nigeria to return to its founding philosophy during a meeting held at the residence of the leader of the Afenifere in Osun State. Adebayo emphasized that good governance should not be transactional and highlighted the importance of political culture in Nigeria.

He noted that Nigeria was established through negotiations among regional leaders from the north, east, west, and south, and stressed the need for unity to ensure national security. Adebayo lamented that military interventions have disrupted the foundational practices of politics in Nigeria, leading to a post-military habit that affects governance.

The meeting aimed to rebuild the national philosophy anchored in social democracy, aligning with the goal of ensuring that political leaders understand their social contract with citizens. Adebayo's remarks reflect a commitment to restoring the ideals that shaped Nigeria's independence and early political development.
