Atiku Abubakar Declares 2027 as Final Presidential Bid

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice-President of Nigeria and current presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared during a Hausa-language interview that the 2027 presidential election will be his last attempt to seek the presidency, ruling out any future candidacy in 2031. He firmly stated, “No, I have said it before, right from this election, I will not contest again,” when asked about the possibility of running again if he loses in 2027.

Atiku emphasized the importance of voter participation, urging Nigerians with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote and to remain at polling units to ensure their votes are counted. He dismissed concerns regarding his age and health, asserting that he is physically fit to fulfill presidential duties.

This announcement signifies a definitive end to Atiku's long-standing presidential ambitions, as he has previously contested for the presidency multiple times under various political platforms.
