APC's Ayoola Advocates for Southern Presidency in 2027

Adekunle Ayoola, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Poland, called for fairness and inclusivity as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections. In a statement made on Tuesday, he argued that the presidency should remain in the Southern part of Nigeria, in line with the existing political understanding of power rotation between the North and South.

Ayoola stated that while rotational presidency is not a constitutional entitlement, it serves as a political convention to promote balance and inclusion. He clarified that rotation should not restrict political parties' rights to nominate candidates or voters' choices.

Ayoola proposed a political understanding favoring the South in 2027, followed by the North in the next cycle, and emphasized that the South-East should be considered when power returns to the South. He insisted that no region should be excluded from discussions on power sharing and that political parties should freely nominate candidates from any region.
