APC Group Warns Against Weak Candidates for 2027 Elections

The APC Youth League has issued a warning to the party's leadership regarding the selection of candidates for the 2027 governorship elections in Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun. Spokesman Taorid Olawal highlighted that poor candidate choices could jeopardize the party's fortunes in the Southwest and undermine President Bola Tinubu's re-election prospects.

The group stressed the need for candidates with strong grassroots appeal and integrity, particularly in Oyo State, where public distrust in current aspirants could damage the party's credibility. Olawal referenced the political significance of Ibadan and the experience of respected figures like former Governor Rasheed Ladoja, advocating for the identification of credible candidates.

The APC Youth League warned that failing to select fresh, virtuous candidates could lead to electoral defeat, emphasizing that the party must heed public expectations to retain its dominance in the region.
