APC Selects Nicholas Asonsere as Consensus Candidate for 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially chosen Nicholas Asonsere as its consensus candidate for the Edo State Assembly election scheduled for 2027. This decision was disclosed during a second-term campaign flag-off held at the party's secretariat on Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City.

The selection process involved extensive consultations with party stakeholders, including Governor Mondai Okpebholo, and was aimed at strengthening the party's position for the upcoming elections. Asonsere's performance and connection with grassroots constituents were highlighted as key factors in his selection.

The process was described as peaceful and demonstrated political maturity within the party. Notably, aspirants led by Toni Oluwatosin agreed to step down in favor of Asonsere, showcasing unity among the candidates.

APC Chairman for Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Sunni Ogbew, praised the consensus process, while Barrister Okoror commended the unity among aspirants. Asonsere expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to justify the trust placed in him.
