APC to Hold Direct Primaries if Consensus Fails in Yobe

Governor Mai Buni of Yobe State announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold direct primaries if a consensus among candidates fails ahead of the 2027 general elections. This statement was made during a press release by Buni's Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Moham.

Six APC governorship aspirants in Yobe State have rejected the party's endorsement of a preferred candidate, Alhaji Baba Wali, and are demanding credible direct primaries. The aspirants include Sen.

Mustapha Maihaja, and Alhaji Lawan Kolo. Buni emphasized that the party is open to direct elections to ensure a fair selection process.

He expressed optimism that the party could resolve any grievances through dialogue, aiming for unity and support among members to win the upcoming elections. Buni reiterated the importance of transparency and participatory democracy in the political process.
