APC Delays Screening Results Ahead of Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has yet to release the screening results for its aspirants as the party's primaries are set to commence on May 15, 2026. The party's approach has left aspirants anxious, with speculation surrounding potential disqualifications.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC is reportedly reviewing the screening process, although official results have not been ratified. The primaries for the House of Representatives are scheduled for May 15, the Senate on May 28, governorship primaries on May 21, and presidential primaries on May 23.

Investigations indicate that the party is under pressure from state governors to negotiate the best primary modes. The Electoral Act 2026 stipulates that political parties must conduct primaries in a manner that ensures consensus among aspirants.

Despite intense lobbying, the screening panel has confirmed that no aspirants have been disqualified in states such as Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, and Rivers State.
