Crisis in Progressive Governors Forum Over Leadership

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) is currently facing a crisis as 20 state governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) passed a vote of no confidence in the forum's chairman, Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State. This decision was influenced by accusations of financial impropriety and dissatisfaction with Uzodinma's leadership style.

Following this, a meeting was convened in Abuja where it was reported that Uzodinma would be replaced by Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State. However, the PGF's Director General, Folorunsho Aluko, denied these claims, stating that the reports were false and that no such meeting had taken place to decide on Uzodinma's removal.

Despite the initial vote of no confidence, Uzodinma managed to rally support from 18 governors in a subsequent closed-door meeting, reaffirming his position as chairman. The governors expressed their commitment to unity within the APC and the PGF as they prepare for the upcoming elections in January 2027.
