Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen Obtain ADC Nomination Forms

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria, Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transport, and Hayatu-Deen have expressed their interest in running for the presidency by obtaining nomination forms from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The ADC confirmed this development on Friday, stating that the presidential nomination forms cost 90 million naira.

Chinedu Idigo, the party's national organizing secretary, made the announcement. The interest in the nomination forms comes amid ongoing realignments within the opposition in preparation for the elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and national assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state house assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027. INEC has also set the dates for party primaries and resolutions related to disputes, with the primaries to be held between April 23 and May 30, 2026, and the campaign for the presidential elections starting on August 19, 2026.
