Bauchi Groups Demand Screening of Ex-Office Holders

On a press briefing held at the Bauchi State Press Center, Jaafar Saleh, representing a coalition of Bauchi groups, called for the screening of former public office holders who aspire to run for election positions. He emphasized that the screening process should reflect integrity and accountability, especially in light of serious allegations surrounding a N210 trillion financial controversy involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.

Saleh noted that former public office holders should not be shielded from scrutiny based on their past records. He urged civil society organizations and media stakeholders to remain vigilant in promoting transparency and good governance.

The coalition specifically called on political parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), to ensure that the screening process is credible and transparent. Saleh highlighted the importance of public trust in institutions and stated that any delay in addressing these issues could weaken that trust.
