Bayelsa Police Urges Peaceful Conduct Ahead of Elections

The Bayelsa State Police Command has issued a warning to politicians, political parties, and their supporters against engaging in violence, intimidation, and hate speech in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Commissioner of Police Ajao Saka Adewale delivered this warning during a stakeholders' meeting at the Police Officers’ Mess in Yenagoa, organized under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security.
The meeting included representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, political parties, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders. Ajao emphasized the need for political actors to prioritize the state's collective interest over partisan agendas and urged them to avoid actions that could disrupt public peace.
He assured residents of proactive measures to ensure safety during the electoral process. The Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Eme Agbor Akpan, also called for adherence to the Electoral Act and electoral guidelines.
