Akpabio: 2027 Campaigns Won't Disrupt National Assembly Duties

On Saturday, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, assured Nigerians that the political campaigns for the 2027 general elections would not disrupt the legislative duties of the National Assembly. Speaking at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akpabio stated that lawmakers would continue fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities amid increasing political activities.

His comments followed a meeting where he, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Umo Eno were endorsed for another term in 2027 by critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District. Akpabio dismissed concerns about electioneering affecting legislative work, asserting that members of the National Assembly could manage their political activities alongside their legislative duties.

He noted that campaigns could be scheduled around legislative work, ensuring that lawmaking would remain unaffected throughout the current administration.
