EBOCOM Warns Against Disruption of Ebonyi Elections

Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State, the Ebonyi Community (EBOCOM) Abuja Chapter has issued a warning against efforts to disrupt the state's peace. The group condemned what they termed a sponsored campaign of blackmail targeting the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru and Commissioner of Police Hope Urunwa Okafor.

EBOCOM's leaders, Chief Idenyi Chinedu Edward and Comrade Elem Okoh, stated that recent protests and attacks are orchestrated by criminal elements and external agitators who oppose the state's progress. They expressed support for Governor Nwifuru's peace agenda and the Nigeria Police Force's efforts under CP Okafor, which have led to security improvements in volatile areas.

EBOCOM has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police regarding these destabilizing activities and emphasized that those threatening peace will face legal consequences. The group contrasted Ebonyi's stability with violence in other regions, asserting that the governor's dialogue and empowerment strategies are effective.
