APPMEN Calls for Fulfillment of Election Promises Ahead of 2027

The Association of Political Party Media Owners of Nigeria (APPMEN) issued a statement on Sunday, urging the Federal Government and state leaders to deliver on at least 50% of the promises made during the last election campaigns. With political campaigns set to begin on August 7, in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable, APPMEN emphasized the importance of focusing on the dividends of democracy rather than engaging in premature political contests.

The association called for prioritizing national interest over personal and political considerations to restore Nigeria’s image as the “Giant of Africa.” APPMEN identified youth empowerment and support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as crucial for economic recovery and urged governments to create an enabling environment for businesses. While acknowledging notable achievements by governments over the past three years, APPMEN challenged leaders to enhance infrastructure, strengthen the economy, and improve citizens' welfare.

The association also called for peaceful elections and urged political parties to avoid hate speech and violence.
