Aisha Yesufu: INEC Not the Problem in Nigeria's Elections

Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu warned that for the 2027 elections to prevent civil unrest, they must be free and fair. During an interview on Symfoni TV, she asserted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is not the core issue within Nigeria’s electoral system; instead, it is the people working within INEC who pose the problem.

Yesufu called on Nigerians to compel INEC to maintain democratic integrity rather than relying on its voluntary cooperation. She emphasized that election day represents a significant opportunity for revolution through voting for the right candidates.

Yesufu stated, “There is no better day for revolution than election day,” and urged citizens to mobilize, indicating that everyone should participate actively on that day, stating, “Nobody is going to work. Nobody is traveling.

Everybody will be there.” She concluded that it is essential for all involved to act correctly rather than depend on INEC's goodwill.
