Yesufu: Obi Supporters to Monitor Votes in 2027 Election

Aisha Yesufu, a political activist and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), announced that supporters of the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to safeguard their votes in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. During an interview with Arise News, Yesufu emphasized that Obi's supporters would deploy representatives to polling units nationwide to monitor election materials and results throughout the collation process, from polling units to the final collation center in Abuja.

She expressed a "zero trust" in INEC, security agencies, and the judiciary, advocating for greater grassroots mobilization to protect votes. Yesufu also defended Obi's decision not to engage with individuals who obstructed his convoy during a visit to Benue State, asserting that he had other commitments.

She criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration as a "colossal failure," highlighting the economic hardships faced by Nigerians and asserting that voters are increasingly focused on competence and character in their choices.
