Abbas Warns Against Candidacy Substitution for 2027 Elections

Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, the presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), issued a warning regarding alleged plans to substitute his name as the party's candidate for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on August 14, 2026, and signed by his special assistant for media and publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Abbas expressed that any attempt to replace or compromise his candidacy without his consent would violate democratic principles and the rights of ADP members.

He claimed that political pressure is being exerted on the ADP's National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani, by a rival presidential candidate from another party, aiming to create a single candidate from Northern Nigeria. Abbas emphasized that his candidacy emerged through legitimate party processes and called on ADP leadership to resist intimidation and protect the party's integrity.

He urged the preservation of all official records related to the presidential primary and compliance with electoral laws.
