Sanwo-Olu Discusses Economy and Security for 2027 Elections

On September 3, 2026, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, delivered a lecture at the Freedom Online 7th Yearly Lecture held at Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Ikeja. He spoke on the theme “2027 Elections: Economy, Security and Nigeria’s Future.” Sanwo-Olu, who has over two decades of public service experience, highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections as the Fourth Republic approaches its 28th anniversary.

He noted that this Republic has lasted more than twice as long as the previous three combined. Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the historical context of Nigeria's elections, particularly referencing the 2015 election, which marked a peaceful transfer of power from a sitting president to the opposition.

He expressed his commitment to the All-Progressives Congress and the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while aiming to address critical issues facing Nigeria as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
