INEC Lists 213 Candidates for Edo Legislative Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a list of 213 candidates for the upcoming elections for 36 legislative seats in Edo State, scheduled for the 2027 general elections. The breakdown includes 142 candidates vying for 24 seats in the Edo State House of Assembly, 49 candidates for nine House of Representatives seats, and 22 candidates for three Senatorial seats representing Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), National Democratic Congress (NDC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) are fielding candidates across all 24 constituencies in the State House of Assembly. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has candidates in 13 State House of Assembly constituencies, four House of Representatives constituencies, and two senatorial districts.

Other parties participating include the African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Democratic Party (ADP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Action Peoples Party (APP). For the Senate, the APC, NDC, ADC, and ADP have candidates for all three senatorial districts, while other parties like Accord, SDP, AAC, ZLP, YPP, PDP, LP, and DLA are also participating.
