Northern Igbo Community Backs Tinubu for 2027 Elections

The Igbo community in Northern Nigeria has resolved to support President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections, marking a shift from previous political stances. High Chief John Amaechi Onwe, appointed as the Director-General of the Igbo Political Movement, made this announcement during a congratulatory visit from the Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA) in Kaduna.

Onwe stated that the community, comprising over 15 million Igbos in Northern Nigeria, aims to mobilize and educate its members to vote, projecting over two million Igbo votes for Tinubu. He emphasized the need to correct past political mistakes and ensure active participation in the electoral process.

The decision to back Tinubu stems from perceived improvements in the economy and better representation of Igbos in his administration. Chief Walter Temple Chukwuma, President-General of ICWA Kaduna, congratulated Onwe on his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the community effectively.
