Dickson Rejects Court Ruling Against Nigeria Democratic Congress

Seriake Dickson, the leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), publicly rejected a Federal High Court judgment delivered by Justice Isah Dashen in Lokoja, which ordered the deregistration of the NDC. Dickson described the ruling as lacking legal merit and as a direct attack on Nigeria's democratic system, posing a serious threat to the country's multi-party democracy.

He argued that the judgment was designed to restrict political competition and reduce the democratic space available to Nigerians. Dickson disclosed that the NDC has assembled a team of lawyers to challenge the judgment and urged party members to remain calm and continue political activities.

He emphasized that the NDC's rapid growth within five months has attracted political opposition, which he claims feels threatened by the party's increasing popularity. Dickson expressed confidence that the NDC would overcome this legal challenge and maintain its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's multi-party democracy, promising to explore judicial remedies to overturn what he described as a judicial error.
