NNPP Declares No Presidential Candidate for 2027 Elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has declared that it will not present a presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. This decision was communicated by the acting National Chairman, Bala Mohammed, during the party's 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on a Saturday.

The NNPP aims to explore alliances with other political parties, emphasizing the need for credible candidates capable of addressing Nigeria's challenges. Mohammed stated that the current situation in the country necessitates collaboration among political parties rather than unnecessary competition.

The party remains open to supporting candidates from other parties that align ideologically with its own. The NNPP's decision not to field a presidential candidate reflects a strategic approach to the upcoming elections, as they assess potential alliances.

Additionally, the NEC ratified Mohammed's appointment as acting National Chairman following the resignation of former chairman Dr. Ajuji, who recently defected from the party. The party also confirmed the appointment of acting state chairmen in Ogun, Delta, Nasarawa, and Cross River states.
