NNPP Schedules May 26 Primaries for 2027 Elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced that it will hold primaries for all elective positions on May 26, 2027, in preparation for the general elections. This decision was communicated by the party's national secretary, Ladipo Johnson, during a statement made on Monday in Abuja.

The NNPP plans to adopt a consensus mode for electing candidates at the ward level across the country. The date for the primaries has already been communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Additionally, INEC concluded a successful verification exercise for the party's administrative structure at its national secretariat in Abuja. Hon Bala Mohammad leads the national working committee (NWC) of the NNPP, which has reaffirmed its leadership amidst claims of expelling members.

Johnson dismissed these claims, asserting that the NWC's authority is recognized and that any legal challenges to their leadership have been misrepresented. He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would ultimately resolve the leadership tussle in favor of the current NWC.
