NYSC Urges INEC to Enhance Corps Members' Welfare

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve the welfare of corps members serving as ad hoc staff during elections. This appeal was made during a visit to INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan's office at the NYSC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Nafiu emphasized the need for enhanced remuneration and prompt disbursement of insurance benefits to support corps members, who may face injuries while performing their electoral duties. He urged INEC to expedite the release of names of corps members designated to serve in electoral offices to allow for adequate preparation ahead of the elections.

Nafiu praised INEC for its support of the NYSC and noted that the corps members are highly competent and credible individuals, essential for ensuring credible elections. He expressed hope that similar measures would be implemented for future elections, reaffirming NYSC's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's democracy.
