Tuggar Acquires N50m APC Nomination for Bauchi Governorship

Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has officially declared his intention to run for the governorship of Bauchi State in the 2027 elections by purchasing the N50 million nomination form from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement was made public through a video shared on Wednesday by Imran Mohd, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the APC National Chairman.

During his visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi last week, Tuggar signed the necessary documents to present his nomination form. He emphasized his commitment to strengthening internal competition within the party rather than creating divisions.

Tuggar, who resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026, pledged to support whoever emerges as the party's candidate. His governorship ambition is driven by the need to address significant developmental challenges in Bauchi State, including poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and gaps in education and healthcare, outlining plans to prioritize agriculture and small to medium-scale enterprises.
