Sulaiman Abba Joins PDP, Eyes Jigawa Senate Seat in 2027

Sulaiman Abba, the former Inspector General of Police, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and declared his ambition to contest for the Jigawa Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections. Abba announced his decision on Friday during an address to party supporters in his hometown of Bamaina, stating that his move was motivated by a desire to give back to the community and to represent them effectively.

He expressed frustration with the APC, noting that despite successfully passing the party's screening process in 2019, he was not allowed to participate in the primary elections. Abba emphasized that his decision to join the PDP was not intended to undermine the party but rather to pursue his political aspirations.

Former Jigawa State Governor and PDP chieftain Alhaji Sule Lamido welcomed Abba's defection, describing it as a significant boost for the party as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
