Ex-SSG Bala Magaji Joins APC, Resigns from PDP

On Wednesday, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Magaji, the former Secretary to the Gombe State Government and Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Elder Committee, announced his resignation from the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision is seen as a major political shift in Gombe State, with implications for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Magaji, who holds the traditional title of Magajin Garin Gombe, met with Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House to formalize his defection. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities provided during his two decades of service but cited a lack of alignment with the party's current direction as the reason for his departure.

His resignation is expected to leave a significant vacuum in the PDP's leadership structure, particularly among senior stakeholders, and may compel the party to undertake reconciliation efforts to retain support across the state.
