SDP's Adebayo Calls for Opposition Unity Against Injustice

Prince Adewol Adebayo, the flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2027 presidential election, addressed a convention in Bauchi, urging opposition parties to unite against what he described as a drift towards one-man rule in Nigeria. Adebayo warned that the erosion of democratic freedoms poses a significant threat to the nation, as he accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to dominate the political structure and weaken opposition parties.

He claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is no longer operating independently and that the federal government is interfering with opposition parties. Adebayo emphasized the need for a strong opposition that transcends ideological differences to confront issues like corruption, insecurity, and economic hardship.

He commended Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for allowing the convention to proceed despite pressures to halt it, reinforcing the importance of defending democratic rights in Nigeria.
