FCT Police Chief Warns Youths Against Electoral Violence

On Wednesday, Ahm Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), issued a stern warning to youths in Abuja, urging them to refrain from participating in ballot snatching and electoral violence as the nation approaches critical elections. The elections are set for January 16, 2027, for the presidential election, and February 6, 2027, for the governorship election, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having previously scheduled the presidential poll for February 20 and the governorship election for March 6.

Sanusi emphasized that no political ambition is worth risking lives or destroying property, urging citizens to exercise their political rights peacefully. He cautioned against allowing themselves to be used by political actors to disrupt the electoral process, warning that such actions could undermine democracy.

The police chief reiterated the importance of community engagement to build trust and reduce electoral violence, highlighting the need for a credible electoral process that benefits everyone.
