South East Governors Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Election

Former governors from the South East region of Nigeria have formally declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's bid for a second term in the 2027 general elections. This endorsement was made known during the inaugural meeting of the South East Former Governors Forum, which aims to advise and support serving governors in the region on national issues.

The forum commended President Tinubu for what they described as an "infrastructure revolution" in the South East and expressed appreciation for the federal government's support to state governments. The communique issued at the end of the meeting emphasized the non-partisan nature of the forum, which includes former governors regardless of their political affiliations.

Key figures present included Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Chris Ngige, Sullivan Chime, Okezie Ikpeazu, David Umahi, and Martin Elechi. The forum also noted that 90 percent participation was achieved during the meeting, despite some absences due to health-related issues.
