FRSC Prohibits Political Escorts for Officers in 2027

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a directive barring its personnel from escorting politicians during the campaigns for the 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by ACM Abimbola Owolabi, the Zonal Commanding Officer of RS6, during her first visit to the Cross River Command in Calabar.
Owolabi stated that patrol vehicles and sirens are not to be used for political activities or private events, such as weddings and funerals. Officers assigned to campaign venues are instructed to concentrate exclusively on traffic management to prevent congestion and road accidents.
The zonal commander also warned against leading political convoys and stressed the importance of accountability to maintain public confidence in the corps. She urged officers to prioritize their safety and professionalism during enforcement operations and to engage in public education on road safety.
Additionally, Owolabi called for stronger partnerships with private operators for effective traffic management and emphasized the need for prompt emergency responses.
