APC Forum Rejects Primaries for Governors in 2027 Elections

The North Central Progress Congress APC Forum has publicly rejected the call by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda, for governors to face primaries to secure the party's ticket for the 2027 elections.

The forum, led by its chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, emphasized that such a move would disrespect the office of the governor, which they consider the party's biggest asset. They warned that forcing governors to undergo primaries could lead to disunity and confusion within the party, providing opportunities for opposition parties.

The forum also criticized the suggestion that the party's governorship ticket be opened to contest, stating that it would destabilize the APC and create divisions. They highlighted that historically, incumbents have not faced opposition in primaries, referencing the non-opposition faced by former President Muhammadu Buhari in previous elections.

The forum urged the APC leadership to reconsider this approach to avoid potential crises ahead of the 2027 elections.
