North-Central APC Forum Opposes Primaries for Incumbent Governors in 2027 Elections

The North-Central APC Forum has taken a firm stance against subjecting incumbent governors to primaries for the 2027 general elections. Led by Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the forum opposes the proposal, highlighting that governors are significant assets to the party and should not face internal challenges.

They referenced the 2019 scenario when former President Muhammadu Buhari returned to the APC without facing opposition in primaries. The forum warned against destabilizing the party by allowing such contests, urging the APC leadership to maintain stability and avoid actions that could lead to crises.

Yekini Nabena, a former APC Deputy National Chairman, cautioned against weakening the party's grassroots support by ceding structures to governors. The forum emphasized the need for the APC leadership to prevent moves that could disrupt the party's cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.
