NAHCON Warns Against Hajj Fraud for 2027 Pilgrimage

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has warned intending pilgrims, private tour operators, and the public against fraudsters posing as agents or staff of the commission who demand money for guaranteed slots for the 2027 Hajj. In a public notice issued on Saturday, NAHCON stated that it has not authorized any individual to collect payments, including “facilitation fees,” for securing special Hajj slot allocations.

Reports have emerged of individuals contacting tour operators and intending pilgrims, demanding various sums of money under false pretenses. NAHCON described these individuals as fraudsters and urged anyone approached to report the matter to law enforcement.

The commission reiterated that Hajj slot allocation follows approved procedures and guidelines, advising pilgrims to make payments only through designated channels, such as State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies and licensed tour operators. NAHCON warned that failure to meet deadlines for data upload by September 26 and payment remittance by December 2 would result in forfeiture of allocated slots.
