Adebayo Critiques Tinubu, Calls for National Prayer

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stated that he hopes President Bola Tinubu will be the last of Nigeria's "embarrassing presidents." This remark follows a meeting on July 28, 2023, between President Tinubu and a delegation from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, where discussions included the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. Adebayo criticized Tinubu's response during the meeting, suggesting that the Catholic bishops should have called for an emergency national prayer for the president.

He expressed disappointment that the bishops did not challenge Tinubu's comments, which he deemed irresponsible. Adebayo remarked that the behavior exhibited by Tinubu was not reflective of the leadership expected by God and emphasized the need for prayers and truth from the clergy regarding the nation's leadership.

He articulated a desire for a future without such leadership, indicating that the current situation reflects a deeper moral failing.
