Gov Alia Declares Himself Leading Candidate for 2027

Governor Alia of Benue State declared himself the candidate to beat in the 2027 gubernatorial election during a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He addressed the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), acknowledging a rift within the party but dismissing it as a normal occurrence during primary elections.

Alia expressed confidence in securing a significant number of votes in the North Central State, believing that the APC will continue to thrive. He emphasized the importance of addressing the security situation in Benue State, which has faced challenges, including the displacement of persons due to insecurity.

Alia's visit to President Tinubu was partly to discuss these pressing issues and to ensure a calm political environment as the state approaches the election.
