Wike Declares No Support for State Election Candidates

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has clarified his political stance regarding the upcoming 2027 general elections, stating that his primary objective is to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election. Wike emphasized that his support for Tinubu does not extend to aiding politicians in their respective states to secure governorship or legislative victories.

He remarked that local political issues should be addressed independently without involving Tinubu's presidential campaign. Wike made these statements in a release by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

He also discussed the Rainbow Coalition, which unites politicians from various parties in support of Tinubu, clarifying that it is not an All Progressives Congress structure. Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, affirmed that the party is free to field candidates for various elections and that he has not agreed to prevent the PDP from participating in these contests.
