Wike Prioritizes Tinubu's Re-election Over Local Politics

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced that his political priority ahead of the 2027 general elections is to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election, rather than assisting politicians in their respective states. In a statement released on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike reaffirmed his support for Tinubu's second-term bid but clarified that he had not promised that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not field candidates for various elections.

He advised politicians facing challenges in their states to resolve these issues locally instead of linking them to the President's re-election campaign. Wike also dismissed claims that the rainbow coalition supporting Tinubu was affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating it consists of politicians from various parties who support Tinubu based on his performance.

He emphasized that political parties must build grassroots support for electoral success, citing examples from the 2023 elections in various states.
