Wike Denies Lobbying for APC Campaign DG Position

On Monday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, refuted claims from various media outlets suggesting he was lobbying for the position of Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. Wike emphasized his unwavering support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he does not require the DG position or membership in the Campaign Council to ensure the president's success in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.

He responded to the reports through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, labeling the claims as false. Wike mentioned that he is currently outside Nigeria, taking a break after over 30 days of project commissioning and inspections.

He indicated that upon his return, his focus will be on fulfilling his mandate in alignment with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and enhancing Tinubu's electoral prospects in Rivers State and the FCT.
