Ikonne Seeks Abia South Senate Seat, Challenges Abaribe

On Wednesday morning, Ikonne picked up nomination forms from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the Abia South Senate seat in the 2027 elections. He called on the incumbent senator, Abaribe, to vacate the seat, citing nearly two decades of Abaribe's representation as ineffective for the district's development.

Ikonne, a former executive secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) under former President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed his commitment to providing quality representation and addressing the urgent developmental needs of Abia South. He criticized Abaribe for being out of touch with the grassroots and emphasized the importance of aligning with the federal government to attract development to the district.

Ikonne expressed confidence in his ability to leverage reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to positively transform Nigeria, stating that the time has come for real representation that goes beyond mere rhetoric.
