INEC Confirms Atiku Abubakar and 470 ADC Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the candidacy of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and 470 other candidates from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by Moham Haruna on Tuesday, noting that INEC will recognize the candidates submitted by the David Mark-led faction of the ADC.

The confirmation follows a Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the legitimacy of Mark's leadership within the party. INEC officials stated that the faction had submitted a total of 471 candidates for various electoral positions, including 1 presidential candidate, 109 senatorial candidates, and 360 House of Representatives candidates.

However, INEC did not comment on the submissions from a rival faction that had lost its appeal regarding recognition. The commission is awaiting a detailed judgment from the court, expected to be released within 48 hours, which will further clarify its position.
