INEC Officials Allegedly Bribed to Remove ADC Leadership

Aisha Yesufu, a political activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, alleged during a live interview on Arise Television that officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were bribed with N50,000 to facilitate the removal of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Yesufu highlighted her concerns regarding the integrity of Nigeria's democratic institutions, stating that the INEC chairman had threatened actions against those who reported these allegations.

She criticized the judiciary for potentially becoming a tool for oppression against opposition parties and expressed worry about the state of democracy in Nigeria, emphasizing that a few individuals should not be allowed to destroy the democratic process. Yesufu's remarks come amid ongoing discussions about electoral integrity and the role of various institutions in maintaining a transparent political environment.
