PDP Chieftain Claims INEC-Recognized Faction Not Original

Umar Sani, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), asserted that the faction recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Taminu Turaki, is not the original PDP. Sani made these remarks during an interview on Tuesday, following a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja that struck down a previous order compelling INEC to recognize and publish the names of the Turaki-led interim national working committee of the party.

Sani emphasized that the INEC's recognition of this faction is a significant deviation from the party's founding principles. He stated that the real PDP will continue to pursue legal avenues to assert its legitimacy and that the party's legacy will not be allowed to fade away.
