FG Trains 4,000 Tractor Operators for Agriculture Drive

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the training of 4,000 tractor operators under its national agricultural mechanisation project, aimed at strengthening food security and creating a skilled workforce for large-scale modern farming. This initiative was announced by AGCOMS International Trading Limited and is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in partnership with the Industrial Training Fund.

The first batch of 250 trainees began a two-week residential training program on Monday at CSS Farms in Nasarawa State. The training focuses on operating and maintaining modern John Deere tractors and other agricultural implements.

This program aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to transform agriculture, improve food security, create jobs for young Nigerians, and boost economic growth through mechanised farming. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, emphasized the program's role in enhancing food production and ensuring that investments in agricultural equipment are complemented by investments in human capital.
