INEC Extends Candidate Submission Deadline to July 14, 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the submission of candidates for the 2027 presidential and national assembly elections to July 14, 2026, at midnight. This decision follows an appeal from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to upload the names of their candidates within the original timeline.

INEC Chairman Moham Kudu Haruna stated that the extension reflects the commission's commitment to promoting inclusivity in the electoral process while operating within the provisions of the law.
