NNPP Accuses APC of Destabilizing Party Amid Factionalism

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Tinubu administration of attempting to destabilize the party, which is currently divided into two factions: one loyal to Rabiu Kwankwaso and the other led by Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and Dr.

Agbo Gilbert Major. Following the 2023 general elections, Major and Aniebonam were expelled from the NNPP for alleged anti-party activities but have sought legal recourse, recently achieving favorable court rulings.

The FCT High Court in Maitama directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the Major-led National Working Committee (NWC). Despite this faction not conducting primary elections or being included in the membership register submitted by Bala Yunusa Muhammed's NWC, INEC allowed them to submit candidate names for the 2027 elections.

During a press conference, Muhammed expressed his astonishment at INEC's recognition of the Major-led faction, suggesting that the APC is behind the crisis to undermine the NNPP, which emerged as the third most popular party in Nigeria after the 2023 elections.
