NNPP Uploads Presidential Placeholder for 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) announced the upload of a placeholder presidential candidate on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal in preparation for the 2027 general elections, aligning with electoral guidelines. The party also confirmed the restoration of its original logo, a basket of fruits on a Nigerian map, on the INEC portal, which Dr Major Agbo, the party's National Chairman, described as a victory in the ongoing leadership tussle.

The NNPP has faced a prolonged crisis with rival factions disputing its leadership and identity. Agbo stated that the commission had replaced a "fake" logo with the original emblem, reaffirming the legitimacy of the National Working Committee he leads.

He revealed that the party completed the upload of 355 National Assembly candidates, including placeholders, across Nigeria, despite time constraints due to the late recognition of his leadership. However, Agbo did not disclose the identity of the placeholder presidential candidate, citing a deliberate decision to withhold this information.
